Punk in Portugal is extremely ecletic as I'll try to describe trough showing band's influences and trying to describe their sound: FONZIE is now one of the most popular bands in Portugal with a sound influenced by the likes of Millencolin, Midtown or Blink 182. MF&I opened for No Use For A Name, ASIDE is pure pop-punk, NOFX's influence on SAT ON THE CAT are extremely clear, TARA PERDIDA is an older band with 3 albums out and have opened for the likes of NOFX, Exploited, Offspring or No Fun At All… EASY WAY and TRIPLE PLUGS are typical melodic punk bands inspired by Lagwagon and stuff like that, ZOOTIC and INTERVENZIONE are extremely good punk/hardcore bands with a political attitude. INTERVENZIONE have 2 vocals: male and female! SIMBIOSE are the kings of Portuguese Crust and have been around for 10 years now… ALIEN SQUAD is also an old school punk-crust band, also very political. SICK SICK SIX is also a political band mixing punk with ska. ALBERT FISH released an excellent streetpunk/punk rock album last year and are around since, 1995 I believe. TAKE A HIKE is excellent, really excellent punk made by 5 kids delivering huge amounts of energy at high speed! RUTHLESS BREED is an MS band that plays the best punk rock/rock'n'roll around, really, it's awesome! ANTI-CLOCKWISE play good punk rock in the old rocking style and has ex-members of MATA RATOS. KAMONES is a band that plays Ramones covers and has members of bands like TARA PERDIDA and NO-COUNTS DOCTRINE OF MAYHEM. ERVAS DANINHAS is classic punk with a good political attitude. SKARETA is ska/punk, KONDENADOS is classic punk from Lisbon, like ESTADO DE CHOKE (not from Lisbon) or FREEDOOM (great band from Oporto with ex-members of RENEGADOS DE BOLIQUEIME). 5 ON TV is a typical melodic punk/skate punk band and MICKY EIGHT is a melodic female-fronted punk band. CAPITÃO FANTASMA is a punk rock/psychobilly band with members of an old psychobilly band - EMILIO E A TRIBO DO RUM (Emilio And The Tribe Of The Rhum). ALL AGAINST THE WORLD and JULY 13 are two Melodic Punk/HC bands from Oporto and NOT FOR SALE is good punk rock from Coimbra. MINTON'S PLAYHOUSE is an MS band with ex-members of the defunct Hardcore/Crossover band RESIGNATION that play some kind of rock revival in the vein of the wave of this sound that is sweeping all over the world… THE NO-COUNTS DOCTRINE OF MAYHEM generate great punk rock blending influences that range from the '77 style punk to the rock'n'roll and Hardcore. ROLLS ROCKERS play punk rock in the '77 style, THE STARVAN play plain punk rock, JACK IN THE BOX (formerly known as OPEN SORE) play melodic punk rock and ONCE AGAIN is a new band in the typical melodic punk vein, FOXYU and SHE'S A DOVE are two melodic punk bands and so is SCAPE FOR A WHILE… LES BATON ROUGE is an old band blending new wave punk, 77 punk and a riot grrl attitude. THE SULLENS and THE BALLYHOOS play a somehow revivalistic garage-punk-rock'n'roll and so does DR. FRANKENSTEIN that also mix it up with some kind of psychobilly…DPE, MR. ED FIGADUS and LOV DA XIT, play punk rock with a highly political conscience, SKAPULA is another ska band and so are SKALIBANS (MS ska), RAMUF AZNAG play a mixture of reggae, punk and metal, ALKAOTIKOS and SPEEDTRACK are punk bands from the north of Portugal, OURSKUM play streetpunk and are from Lisbon…
