Scene Report - França !

Hi my friends from Portugal!

Well let’s talk about the HxC scene in our nice country that is France !!!
It begun in ’91 with only a few people who were interested in the NYHC scene from the VHS’S, CD’s and DEMO TAPES we used to buy from USA.

But the HxC movement really started in the middle of the ’90 in PARIS and in Britain,specially in RENNES and in NANTES, with people who were involved in the scene. We used to organize shows and start bands, go to all the shows, have fun and dance!!
We often used to go to Belgium where the scene was crazy, with the comin’ of great bands from everywhere (H8000 thanks once again).

Then big american bands came to France to play the sound we got used to enjoy: NEGLECT in ’95, 25 TA LIFE in ’96 and VISION OF DISORDER. One of the first big shows was the Superbowl 96! Ah, I remember that was crazy and mad fun !!

After this show more bands started to come here and the HxC movement spread all over the country!

Here is a comment from KILL FOR PEACE (59 HxC):

“Hardcore is becoming an important part of the French scene, more and more bands are starting, even though hardcore has been here for many years, this abundance of bands means to many of us an evolution of the scene.
Styles have multiplied, and hardcore has changed a lot along the years. Hardcore is not the same as it was in the beginning and it’s certainly this change that brought new people to our scene. Our region is also affected by this new wave, but the number of bands isn’t that important, there are nearly 6 bands in our region, in some towns there can be up to 5 bands.
These days bands call themselves hardcore just because it’s fashionable, but hardcore shouldn’t be a fashion! Look at countries like Belgium, Germany or England, they all have that hardcore culture that we’re missing, their scenes are even more diversified, people make things happen, and dance more at concerts! Once people on our scene start to understand that go to shows is a purpose to have fun, and most of all when people start to have that hardcore spirit, the French scene will be strong!”

And now let’s talk about the HxC in my town, TOULOUSE:

Well the first things I want to notify is that I’m really happy and lucky to live here. It’s making five years now and believe me, the movement is growing up at each concert. That’s good for the scene, more and more people are interested by this movement, all with a real positive spirit, NOT TO FIGHT, BUT TO HAVE FUN!!! We don’t forget that Hardcore is not a business, we are here to criticize what’s happening around us in politics: We talk about veganism or SxE ideas and more positive causes.

One of the good things we have here is that we have more and more Spanish people that come here for shows, and I hope one day we could organize a show or festival with Spanish and French bands , something like that!

Toulouse sounds spread to other countries like ALEA JACTA EST on tour in Portugal and in Spain in jully 28 and 8control on tour in ENGLAND in august with shows in Spain too. I hope that our bands can play more often in Germany, Italy and Switzerland, we have to work on !!!
Geographically, TOULOUSE is a good place for the scene. We receive a lot of bands from everywhere, they come from Paris and have a stop here before going on tour in Spain or the other way around.

I hope that someday we can receive people and bands from everywhere in the world! I’m thinking about the HARDCORE scene in MALAYSIA or JAPAN where the scene is very good!!

That’s important because without those people we wouldn’t have shows ,THX for what ya do !
We have many shows per week here, that’s the reason why I say that I’m really lucky to live here.
We cannot forget that HxC is not a business or somethin’ fashion !!! it’s a way of life !!!

Support your local scene, go to the shows they organize even if you don’t really like the band sound this time , next time will be better.TOGETHER we stand DIVIDED we fall.
